Zürich (Zurich) – Ascona/Locarno
From the airport railway station you travel on to Ticino to Ascona/Locarno (approx. 3.5 hrs), which lies in a spectacular sunny bay at Lago Maggiore. Ascona/Locarno
Today you enjoy Ascona, the lovely city at the Lago Maggiore. An intricate web of lanes, containing every kind of shop, leads to the piazza, which lies directly on the lake. Enjoy the famous lakefront with its cafés and tables in the sunshine. Or discover Locarno. Famous for its climate, the mildest in Switzerland with around 2’300 hours of sunshine a year, and for its International Film Festival, which takes place in August. Locarno is a small town which has spread over the wide delta of the river Maggia. You can also visit Bellinzona (approx. ½ hrs) with its Medieval UNESCO-Fortress with the three castles Castelgrande, Castello di Montebello and Castello di Sasso Corbaro. Or take part in an excursion to the advantes of a world-city with the character of a small town. Overnight stay at Ascona/Locarno. |

Ascona/Locarno – Kandersteg
After breakfast, travel to Kandersteg via Domodossola (Italy) (approx. 3.5 hrs). The journey goes through the romantic “Centovalli” with its spectacular bridges, falls and light chestnut-forests. Enjoy the wonderful mountain landscape and discover one of the most beautiful hiking areas in the Alps. The mountain villages in the Lötschberg region are gems which have retained their original country character. Overnight stay at Kandersteg.

Kandersteg
Today you can take an excursion to Oeschinensee which is on the application list for the UNESCO World Heritage (not incl. / 50% reduction with your Swiss Pass). From the top of the chair-lift there are plenty of ways leading down to Oeschinensee. All of them take you through a stunning alpine scenery. The lake is about 60 m deep. Snow-melt increases the depth. Overnight stay at Kandersteg. |
Day 05 |
Kandersteg – Montreux/Vevey
After breakfast, travel from Kandersteg to Spiez (approx. ½ hrs). From there you take the GoldenPass Line to Zweisimmen (approx. ¾ hrs) and continue to Montreux/Vevey (approx. 2 hrs). The second section of the GoldenPass Line is the only Swiss line offering VIP seating (not incl.) at the front of the train and thus providing a driver’s eye view. The ultra-modern trains let travellers feel the unfolding scenery. Overnight stay at Montreux/Vevey. |
Day 06 |
Montreux/Vevey – Rochers-de-Naye – Geneva
The excursion to the Rochers-de-Naye is one highlight of this tour. It gives the most spectacular view of Lake Geneva and its surrounding Alps. On a clear day, you are able to see the Eiger, the Mont Blanc massif and Geneva’s famous waterspout. In the evening take a boat-cruise from Montreux to Geneva. Overnight stay at Geneva. |
Day 07 |
Geneva – Luzern
After breakfast, proceed to Luzern by train (approx. 3 hrs). Check in at the hotel. In the afternoon visit the 700 years-old wooden Chapel Bridge and the Lion Monument, have a look at the Swiss museum of Transport or do some shopping in the old town of Luzern. Overnight stay at Luzern. |
Day 08 |
Luzern – Depart for the onward journey
After breakfast, you either proceed to the airport for your onward flight or else continue your stay in Switzerland. |
