Rochers-de-Naye
Introduction
In one hour, you can climb by rack railway train from the palm trees on the lake shore to the edelweiss flowering above. Modern or steam, the cog railways meander between lake, forests and high mountain pastures taking less than an hour to reach the summit of more than 2,000 m.
A real headland overlooking the town of Montreux, the Rochers-de-Naye ("Naye Rocks") provides the most spectacular view of Lake Geneva and its surrounding Alps. On a clear day, you can see the Eiger, the Mont-Blanc massif and Geneva's famous waterspout.
Panoramic Restaurant:
Taste their specialties and haute cuisine in a fabulous setting. Take some well deserved time in our cafeteria or the panoramic restaurant nestled in the cliffs of Rochers-de-Naye, rising at 2000 meters above Montreux.
La Rambertia, Alpine Garden:
Guess the names of the Alpine flowers. Stroll in the alpine garden “Rambertia” which features nearly 1000 alpine flowers from all over the world to be admired and enjoyed.
Marmottes Paradis:
Best observed in either early mornings or late afternoons, you can watch families of marmots, which have been brought from all parts of the globe to this paradise of nature, within their seven parks. Open throughout the year, the special Educational Centre houses a permanent exhibition of films, games, portholes and cameras to look inside the marmots burrows. The entrance to this wonderful centre, is unique in the world, is entirely free of charge.
Getting There
The train to the Rochers de Naye links the famous city of Montreux (395m) to this magnificient point of view over the Leman Lake, the Rochers de Naye (2042m).

Tip:
If the child is not covered with an STS Family Card, you can get a Junior Card for 20.00 CHF at every SBB counter in Switzerland. You only need to take your passports and the birth certificate of the child along. With the Junior Card, your family outing costs even less because for a mere CHF 20.00, your child (6 to 16) can travel through Switzerland for free a whole year long. Only condition: It is accompanied by a parent holding a valid ticket. |
